Chappy's News

Hello Dayboro Parents and Carers!

We have some exciting updates and news to share with you about recent chaplaincy activities, so let’s dive right in...

Chappy Week Highlights: A Week of Fun and Appreciation

During Chappy Week, I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of kind words and appreciation from the community. The kids had an absolute blast participating in activities such as Gaga Ball, 9 Square in the Air and our handball tournament. Thank you so much to all of the parents, teachers and community members who supported me during this eventful week. Your help and participation meant the children were able to enjoy all planned activities without a hitch. Congratulations to the children who placed in the handball tournament and won the following prizes:

'Preps Playing Gaga Ball' 'Subway Lunch – yummy!' '9 Square in the Air at play time!'

Senior Tournament:

  1. Gemma G - $50 adventure gift card (BCF, Macpac, Supercheap Auto, Rebel Sports)

Rock and Water Program: Cultivating Gratefulness and Mindfulness

We are excited to share the success of our Rock and Water Program, designed to help children develop important life skills such as gratitude and mindfulness. Through this initiative, I have been working with Inclusion Teacher Mrs Tavelardis to teach the kids valuable lessons about self-awareness, emotional control and respectful interactions. We believe these skills will empower them to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and empathy. We have been focusing on having a ‘Gratitude Attitude’ and learning about ‘the Power of the Breath” this past fortnight.

SUPA Club: Growing Rapidly and Seeking Volunteers

I am delighted to share that SUPA (Scripture Union Primary Age) club is thriving and experiencing rapid growth. Currently we have 40 children attending, participating in various engaging activities. We are in need of additional volunteers to ensure that the club continues to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all. If you have time and willingness to make a positive impact on the lives of young people, please consider joining us as a volunteer. Your involvement could make a world of difference.

Dayboro Day Raffle

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported my work here at the school as chappy by purchasing raffle tickets. The raffle raised $800 in total. Funds raised are crucial in ensuring I can keep providing the programs and support for students, teachers and families that I currently do. My goal is first and foremost to serve this community by being present at the school four days a week.

The raffle prize winners were:

  1. David McCafferty
  2. Susan Rosso
  3. Michael Rosenthal

Congratulations to Di Evans, Resident of the Year!

Di Evans, the secretary of my chaplaincy committee, was awarded Dayboro Resident of the Year on Dayboro Day. Di is an invaluable member of our community - she does a lot of work behind the scenes to help put on events like Pancake Day in our school. I am so grateful to have your support and want to again recognise the amazing work you do not just for chaplaincy but for lots of organisations in the Dayboro community. Congratulations Di!

If you have any questions or need support in any way I have lots of practical resources available. Please feel free contact me at:
