Library
This week in the Library we are offering students the chance to participate in a couple of competitions following our involvement in National Simultaneous Storytime. Students can enter a colouring in competition featuring our favourite sloth, Spike, or they can create an animation (in their chosen style) retelling part, or all, of story of “The Speedy Sloth”.
Thank you to the families who have continued to send used cardboard boxes along to maker space. We have many enthusiastic inventors who are always looking for just the right sized piece of cardboard to add to their designs and constructions. Your contributions are appreciated.
Overdue Books Reminder
A reminder to keep an eye out for overdue books. We have quite a few students who have had the same book on loan since February or March. We would like those books returned as soon as possible so that these books can be used by other students. Students with overdue books have been receiving reminders to return their books when they come to the Library each week.
National Simultaneous Storytime
We had a very busy morning with “The Speedy Sloth” last Wednesday.
Participating students joined in with children from all over Australia and New Zealand to listen to the story “The Speedy Sloth” at 11:00am. After listening to the book, our students participated in a variety of activities in the hall.
Event Reminders:
Readers Cup Competition
Premier’s Reading Challenge
The 2023 Premiers Reading Challenge reading period began on the 8th of May. To complete the challenge students in Prep – Year 2 need to read or experience 20 books, students in Year 3 and Year 4 need to read 20 books, and students in Year 5 and Year 6 need to read 15 books (this number of books acknowledges that older students are more likely to select longer and more complex books).
Have a great week!

Book Club Reminder
Book Club for Term 2 has been issued to students. Families are also able to view the latest issue of Book Club on line. Orders for this issue of Book Club will close on Friday the 9th of June.
It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school and the books will be delivered to their class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/loop or by using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Alternatively, order forms with payment can be handed in at the school office. All orders placed through Book Club help to earn free reading books for the school library.
