Remember that May is National Family Reading Month. There are many opportunities for children and their families to get into reading throughout May, including the start of the Premier’s Reading Challenge, our school Book Fair and National Simultaneous Storytime. It’s always amazing to see how enthusiastic our students are when reading new and interesting books.
Event Reminders:
Premier’s Reading Challenge
The 2023 Premiers Reading Challenge reading period began on the 8th of May. To complete the challenge students in Prep – Year 2 need to read or experience 20 books, students in Year 3 and Year 4 need to read 20 books, and students in Year 5 and Year 6 need to read 15 books (this number of books acknowledges that older students are more likely to select longer and more complex books).
National Simultaneous Storytime
Students in all year levels are welcome to join in with the 23rd annual National Simultaneous Storytime event on the 24th of May during first break from 11.00 a.m. After listening to this year’s book, “The Speedy Sloth”, students are welcome to stay for the remainder of first break and join in with our celebration activities.
Have a great week!

Book Club
Book Club for Term 2 will be issued to students soon, alternatively families are welcome to view the latest issue of Book Club on line. Orders for this issue of Book Club will close on Friday the 9th of June.
It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school and the books will be delivered to their class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/loop or by using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Alternatively, order forms with payment can be handed in at the school office. All orders placed through Book Club help to earn free reading books for the school library.
