SPORTING SCHOOLS HOCKEY
I am pleased to announce that we have arranged for hockey to be run after school as part of our sporting schools grant this term. This is a good opportunity for students to participate in a sport which is not run in a local club. If your child is interested please either print the attached form or collect a hard copy from the office, complete and return to the office as soon as possible. With only one coach available numbers are currently limited to 15 and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Details are as follows:

SKIPPING YEAR 1 AND 2
Students in year one and two are currently developing their skipping skills with long and short ropes while at the same time improving their fitness and coordination. They will be assessed at the end of the term on simple skipping skills. I have encouraged students to practise at home if they can. If your child does not have a skipping rope and would like to practise I can arrange for a short loan of a school rope. If you would like to take advantage of this offer please email me on cxmar5@eq.edu.au
CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING
Beginning next week for yr 3-6, and the week after for year P-2, all classes will be practising their cross country during PE lessons. Please ensure they have a hat and water bottle. Hats are required for PE outside and there is only a single water tap on the oval. If your child has any legitimate reason why they should not participate in the full cross country practise please let either myself or the class teacher know.
Before and after school cross country training commences on 20th February. Permission slips are attached to the newsletter, or you may collect a hard copy from the office. Details are as follows:
Training will occur three days a week from 20/2/22 (week 5) until 10/3/22 (week 7) unless it is raining.
Monday afternoon 3.15-3.45 with Mrs Marks
Wednesday morning 8:00 - 8:30am with Mr Horne
Friday morning 8:00-8:30 with Mrs Blair
If your child experiences asthma brought on by strenuous exercise, and you know that they will need preventative medicine before they run, please encourage them to go to the office at break time before their PE lesson to take their medication. If your child may require asthma medication during out of hours training they may need to bring it with them. There will be an inhaler in the first aid kit at all PE lessons and Cross Country Training Sessions.
INJURIES
Funnily enough, as if my words in the last newsletter was a prediction, I’ve already had students try to remove bandages or slings to participate in PE and others use a bandaid or sore tooth as a reason not to participate. If your child has an injury that does limit their participation PLEASE email me or send a note to school with the recommended level of participation. It makes my job so much easier. Thankyou.
