Hi everyone,

I hope you’ve had a great fortnight! Well as you probably know, today we had pancake day. Thanks to everyone who helped us mix the batter, cook and serve them up! I appreciate you (and I’m sure the kids do too!).

I’ve been thinking about what “gem” I could write about in my article this week, and then it occurred to me – diamonds (pun intended!). You probably know, diamonds are the hardest natural substance known to man. In order for one to form, extreme pressures and incredibly hot temperatures are needed over a long period of time, usually very deep within the earth’s surface. Isn’t it remarkable that in a very dark place, under a lot of pressure, stress and heat, something so beautiful and unbreakable forms?

I know whenever I’ve gone through really difficult things in my life, it feels like nothing good could possibly come from those situations. Usually the last thing I wanted to hear is that I was “growing through” what I was going through! I can now, though, see how certain pressures helped build “gems” of resilience and inner strength in my life (though I am the first to admit that I still have so much to learn). So if things are tough for you right now, I hope that you can hold on to that hope.

Moreton Bay Sports Camp – This year I am a director on a Scripture Union holiday day camp. It is happening on 3– 5 April in North Lakes. If you have a child who interested in sport this will be the camp for them. More information to come.

Finally, I am here to support students, staff and parents in the Dayboro State School community.
