Dear Families and Friends

TRANSITIONS

At this busy time of year, we can often forget that for many of our students and families it is a time of anticipation and sometimes anxiety about preparing for next year. The Yr 6 students will be leaving for high school and for many, saying goodbye to old friends and teachers and getting ready for completely different routines can be a daunting experience. We try to help this transition by connecting with our local high schools throughout the year and the students begin visiting and getting to know the staff.  They also send Yr 7 coordinators to our school to get to know the students and their needs better. We would welcome any feedback from parents with suggestions on how we could improve this process for families, especially first time high school families.

Preparing for Prep is also a big step for families of children starting Prep in 2023. Establishing routines and providing positive experiences are important ways of supporting your child. Check out our Starting School podcast for more practical tips

YEAR 5 Bray Park High Visit

Every year Bray Park High invite all our Yr 5 students to attend a STEM day. Our students are involved in a range of fun and educational activities that are usually unique to the high school setting such as woodworking, science experiments in a Science Lab and moving around to different teachers for each area. We thank Bray Park for valuing the importance of getting to know our students and for providing this day of fun for our learners. The feedback was that our students were highly engaged and represented Dayboro in an admirable way!! Well done students.

Now that the days are starting to get warmer please remember that it is an expectation that all children wear hats during play times and PE lessons. The rule is “No Hat, no Play!” Please remember to name your child’s hat as it makes it much easier to return lost hats to their owners.

Children that do not wear hats are expected to be in the CSA areas during break times.
