Hello wonderful Dayboro parents, guardians and friends!

Today is my 1 year anniversary of working at Dayboro State School. What a great year it has been. I am pretty stoked I get to be a part of this community, more than I could put into this column. The sense of community here is really wholesome. I live in the nearby Brisbane suburbs and there is a noticeable difference out here. It is so important to be connected to other people and that’s something this small town does well. If I’m ever feeling a bit down or stressed, one of my favourite things to do is spend time with my friends and family. At a minimum when I am really busy, a phone call or a text message do the trick. This week I encourage you to take time to intentionally do the same. Check in on your friends and reach out to hang out.

Rock and Water has continued this fortnight and I am happy to report that everyone appears to be enjoying themselves and learning a lot. Last week, our junior group learned about what bullying is and how to stand up to a bully. The students played a variation on the game of tag in which they could use their positive ‘rock’ characteristics to stick up for their friends against the tagger. They practiced grounding, centering and focusing themselves in order to remain calm even when being chased. This week our seniors will finally get their first turn as a timetable clash meant it was delayed a fortnight. Thank you so much for all of your patience Year 5 & 6’s! 

SUPA club has restarted and will be on fortnightly until the end of the year. If you are interested in sending your children along please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address below.

Finally, I am here to support students, staff and parents in the Dayboro State School community. If you have a need, are going through something difficult or simply need someone to talk to, my door is always open. I have lots of resources and support I can offer.. I currently have Christmas Hampers for 2022 and school stationary help available through Stationary Aid.
