Instrumental and Choir Showcasing

This week we were treated to a performance from our Senior Band on parade this week. It was great to see the effort and commitment that our instrumental students put into their learning. On Monday afternoon, we also held our Spring Soiree where our choir all of our instrumental students, including our Year 4 beginners, performed. It was wonderful to see the enjoyment our musicians and choir enthused on the afternoon, especially as for some this was their very first performance!

Mr Rowan Yates spoke with the children on parade to let them know that our Year 3 cohort would have the opportunity to pop in an expression of interest in term 4 if they are interested in commencing an instrument next year. Choir of course is always an opportunity for our students. Our choir meet at 8:00am each Monday morning in the Music room.

Prep Interviews Saturday!

The Prep team, Karen and I are excited to welcome our future prep cohort and their families to our school on Saturday morning for our enrolment interviews. This is a chance for the students and their families to interact with our staff and explore our Prep facilities. A reminder that if you know anyone who will be eligible for Prep in 2023 (turning 5 by June 30), please let them know to contact Jill or Kay for enrolment details. Kay will be coordinating Saturday’s event. Thanks Kay!

We have already met several of our local Kindy students over the last few weeks with them attending some special days at our school. We welcomed the littlest of our community to our Junior Sports Day and also to our Fathers Day stall (with a play afterwards).

Book Parade

Book parade last week was amazing! Thank you to Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Cat for all their work towards the event and of course continuing to promote the love of reading and books!

Our parade was exciting with the students proudly participating and our special guests, Sargent Ken and Sargent Paul along with Ryan our Helping Hands coordinator, who had the very hard task of judging. Thank you Helping Hands, for partnering with us, kindly donated our book prizes!

The Meerkats performance was an amazing opportunity for our students to observe a live performance with very skilled performers, as well as to interact with the stories they presented. We love to offer our students a variety of experiences where at Dayboro to build their knowledge and experience of the world!

Payments for events

Thank you to parents for encouraging our students to participate in the incursion and excursion opportunities. At Dayboro we have a philosophy that we don’t want any child to miss out on an experience. We always list on our permission notes a due date for payments. Recently our Admin Officers and our Teaching staff have had to chase up multiple permissions and payments well after the due dates. These extra phone calls, notes etc place added stress onto our staff. To help us out, please note the due dates when receiving a form for one of these opportunities.

We are currently reviewing our processes and unfortunately, we will need to be firmer with the late payments (particularly those the day before or on the day of an event). Please let our staff know if you need assistance with the timelines, returning the permission forms early and we can plan for this assistance to avoid disappointment.
